Story
Hi! I'm Chloe, the owner, operator, creator, writer, researcher, webmaster, and product designer of Short Hikes.
I created Short Hikes because I was frustrated with having to sift through information about amazing-looking hikes that I knew my chronic thyroid and respiratory illnesses would not allow me to do to find the hikes that I actually could do. I ran into this problem both when planning trips to places like State and National Parks and when looking for local hikes and walks.
If you've had similar frustrations and concerns, I have created a solution for you! Short Hikes articles have categories for hikes under 2 miles, 1 mile, and 0.5 mile. Each article also has a "jump to" menu like the one at the top of this page, so you can easily skip to the category or categories that best suit you.
As explained in the Why Short Hikes? article, I know time is another limiting factor for a lot of us. I am passionate about helping people get the best value out of their time and energy, and I strongly believe Short Hikes can help in this way as well.

We never sell your data. As the policy explains, any third-party use is limited to things like our email provider, which is considered a third party since it is not the same company that hosts the Short Hikes website.
Any analytics tools that we use to assess traffic and demographics will only capture, at most, your age and gender, and these will not be specifically tied to you as a person (a.k.a. "personally identifiable information"). Basically this means that they may capture something like, "Five females aged 20-35 visited your site on May 7," but there is no way for me or the programs to identify or determine that Jane Smith visited the site on that date. Your IP address and other personally identifiable information are not recorded or stored.
We also use HTTPS encryption on all parts of shorthikes.net, so your connection is secure.
